Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month: Finding Support and Hope After Loss
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month: Honoring Every Journey
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to remember the babies who are deeply loved, honor families who have experienced loss, and create space for conversations that often go unspoken.
At Caperton Fertility Institute, we understand that the journey to parenthood isn't always easy. For many individuals and couples, it can include unexpected challenges, heartbreak, and difficult decisions.
As a physician, I want anyone who has experienced pregnancy or infant loss to know one thing: Your loss matters, your grief is valid, and you are not alone.
Understanding Pregnancy Loss
Pregnancy loss is more common than many people realize, yet it can feel incredibly isolating. Miscarriages often occur because of chromosomal abnormalities beyond anyone's control.
One of the most important messages I share with patients is that pregnancy loss is rarely something you caused or could have prevented.
Grief looks different for everyone. Some people find comfort in sharing their experiences, while others prefer to process their emotions privately. There is no right or wrong way to grieve.
Finding Hope After Pregnancy Loss
For those considering pregnancy again, it's natural to have questions about their fertility and future options.
While one miscarriage does not necessarily indicate a fertility problem, experiencing repeated pregnancy losses may warrant further evaluation. Fertility testing can sometimes help identify underlying conditions and guide next steps.
At Caperton Fertility Institute, we provide compassionate, personalized fertility care to patients in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, helping families navigate reproductive challenges with understanding and support.
Remembering Every Story
This October, and especially on October 15, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, we honor every family whose journey has included loss.
Whether you're grieving, healing, or considering your next steps, please remember that your story matters.
If you have questions about fertility after miscarriage or recurrent pregnancy loss, our team at Caperton Fertility Institute is here to help.
